2. Food - It is said that where there is good wine, good food will follow. Our chefs shop the farmer's market and rush back to their kitchens to prepare the evening's additions. Local wines bubble on the burner with a mix of organic herbs for reduction sauces of intense and gratifying flavor. Locally-made crème fraiche tops a bowl of berries that were still attached to the vine this morning. And then there are the tacos...

3. Hunter Ranch - 18th Hole4. Golf - Hunter Ranch Golf Course is the only 4½ star golf course in the area. Other public courses include River Oaks, the Paso Robles Golf Club, and The Links.

5. Shopping - Paso Robles’ downtown shopping district is an attraction in itself. Beautifully restored historical buildings house handmade fabrics, fine women’s clothing, locally-made olive oil and more. In addition to an eclectic mix of gift items and unique home decor, you will find friendly wine tasting rooms, restaurants and gourmet food and wine shops. 6. Music - Every Friday night during the summer, enjoy our Twilight Concerts in the Park. Also, you can take in more intimate concerts at The Wine Attic, Castoro Cellars, and at Matt’s Music all year long.

8. Farmer’s Markets - Some of the best produce in the world is grown right here on the Central Coast and can be found at our farmer’s markets. Check the website for days and times.

9. Lake Nacimiento - whether you want to ski, wakeboard, camp, fish, or just cruise, this is one beautiful place to do it, all year long. You can bring your own gear or rent it all when you arrive.

The Ravine Waterpark10. The Ravine Water Park - You would think that this would be the province of children, but adults are having the time of their lives here, as well.

11. Zinfandel Festival - Every March, wine lovers from all over the country come together to enjoy the distinct character of the Zinfandel grape and experience the annual commemorative blend and Grand Tasting.

12. Hospice du Rhone - The largest Rhone tasting in the world and the ONLY one that kicks off with a bowling tournament.  This event happens the first week of May each year and features wineries from all over the world who specialize in Rhone wines.

13. Paso Robles Wine Festival - Thrown annually on the third weekend in May, our Wine Festival is the largest outdoor wine tasting event in California. Nearly 100 wineries pour samples of their wine. Tasting rooms welcome new and returning guests with fun events all weekend long.

14. Natural Beauty - Each of the four seasons in Paso Robles offers stunning natural beauty. Green winter hills, vivid pink and white almond blossoms in the spring, lush vineyards in the summer and brilliant fall colors. Pack a picnic, pick one of our back roads and enjoy.

15. Hot Springs - The hot mineral springs that originally made Paso Robles famous are experiencing a resurgence. And the good news is, new technology has taken the smell out but left all the good stuff in. Check out River Oaks Hot Springs and Spa, the Paso Robles Inn, and Franklin Hot Springs.

16. Firestone Walker Brewery - It’s here and it’s ours. We couldn’t be more proud of Firestone Walker being voted “Best Beer in America” by Men’s Journal for 2006. Take a tour and have a taste, you may just agree with that statement.

Paso Robles Event Center17. All year round the Paso Robles Event Center hosts world-class equestrian events in addition to the California Mid-State Fair. Spectators are welcome at all events, and admission is usually free, so come on down.

18. Olive Festival - Each August, this event features regional olive growers, olive oil producers, olive and olive oil tasting, local wineries and breweries for a day of epicurean delights. Cooking demonstrations and a head-to-head cook-off of local chefs will be held in the Gazebo in the Downtown City Park.

19. Pasolivo/Willow Creek Olive Ranch - One of the pre-eminent olive oils in the country is produced right here in Paso Robles. You can take a tour of the facility any weekend, experience harvest in the fall and taste their award-winning olive oil any time of the year.

20. Oaktoberfest - Our local winemakers contend that it takes a lot of good beer to make good wine. Come celebrate beer with us, in true German Oktoberfest fashion (except it happens in September!), complete with Beer Olympics, beer maids and giant draft horses.

21. A Movie in a Vineyard - You've seen it in old Italian movies - this romantic and fun evening under the stars is perfect in Paso Robles wine country. At select wineries throughout the summer, enjoy a movie under the stars and an Italian dinner in a picnic basket, complete with wine. Limited seating ensures a night to remember.

22. Children’s Museum - Childrens Museum - www.pasokids.orgThis proud addition to the downtown is housed in the former volunteer firehouse. Interactive displays will include a giant oak tree, a pizza oven, little theater, a grape stomp and firefighter paraphernalia.

23. Harvest Wine Tour - Held the third weekend in October every year, wineries large and small throw open their doors and invite the public to celebrate the harvest with them. There’s a great chance that you will meet the person that made the wine you are drinking on this weekend.

24. Paso Gathering - This show and sale celebrates the art and soul of the cowboy way of life. Hand-crafted leather goods, tack, saddles, silver and boots are showcased along with western art of all kinds. First week of November.

25. Vine Street Victorian Showcase - On the second Saturday every December, the beautiful Victorian homes on Vine Street are the lighted backdrop for an evening of old fashioned fun. Carolers, dancers, storytellers, musicians and more come out to celebrate the holidays. You should, too.

Hearst Castle: Goal of about one million visitors each year, the Castle is a pleasant 45-minute drive from Paso Robles. For details, visit the new Hearst Castle website.

Coastal California: Paso Robles is about 30-45 minutes drive from the coastal communities of San Simeon, Cambria, Cayucos, and Morro Bay. Overlooking The CoastThe scenic route of Highway 46 West takes you to Highway 1 and the coast side towns.  Along the coast, Highway 1 extends north to Big Sur and Monterey and to the south past Morro Bay is Montana de Oro State Park.

Other County Attractions: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is about 30 minutes drive south on Highway 101, as is the City of San Luis Obispo. Further south along Highway 101 lie Avila Beach and Pismo Beach. East from Paso Robles is the historic James Dean Memorial, site of periodic car rallies. To the north lies Monterey County and Camp Roberts Military Reservation.
