Kahuna’s Skateboard Camp, one of the Spring Breakout camps offered March 27- 29, 2008, was a great opportunity for kids to practice their skills for the Monster Skate Competition in April – or just experience a new sport. Garrett Wesch, co-owner of Kahuna’s, ran the camp with the assistance of some dynamic skateboard enthusiasts who demonstrated proper care for the skateboard, safe riding techniques, and great tricks. A mini competition on Saturday had parents and other supporters cheering for some 37 skaters as they vied for prizes. The kids had a wonderful time and left with a deeper appreciation for the sport and safety issues, an increased ability to skate, and a goodie bag as well! Look for more Kahuna camps this summer!
