PARKS MAINTENANCE DIVISION
The Parks Division maintains over 96 acres of City Parks. This includes irrigation, mowing, planting, weeding, field preparation and cleanup and event preparation/cleanup.
Centennial Park Facility Upgrade
City Recreation staff completed a successful campaign to
secure $500,000 of a state grant funding to rehabilitate and
upgrade the facilities at Centennial Park. Enhancement include
facility painting inside and out, remodeling of the game room,
addition of showers and a water slide at the pool, addition of
roller hockey and basketball courts to name a few items.
Completion of these projects will bring Centennial up to a
better than new condition.
Sherwood Master Plan
The City is exploring alternatives to expand the use and
facilities at Sherwood Park. Sherwood Park includes 11 acres,
hosts two softball/little league fields, a soccer field, 4
tennis courts, sand volleyball, and play equipment. Across the
street, the City owns another 14 acres, some developed as
parkland, some not. Also, new Senior and Veteran’s Centers were
built on this property—generally referred to as Oak Creek Park.
There may be ways the community can better utilize the park land available in this area. The City will explore these options with neighbors to aid in developing a long-range master plan for the combined 25-acre park uses.
