Volunteer Academy Graduates

The Paso Robles City Library is please to present the graduates of Library Academy 2010.

The Paso Robles City Library Academy was established in 1996 when library service was moved from the small Carnegie building to the new, much larger facility. The Academy was the result of the need to train a large number of community-minded volunteers to support the efforts of a small staff that now hoped to provide expanded hours and services. Seventy-five volunteers completed the intensive and broad library training program that first year.

Since then, the Library Academy has been offered to both volunteers and staff every two years. Typically, over a six-month period, ten to twenty sessions are offered, covering such areas of library service as circulation, reference, children’s services, and processing, to local history, safety, and computer technology. Customer service is always offered and is required for graduation from the Academy.

This year, 54 volunteers participated in the program, donating over 260 hours in pursuit of an ongoing quest for excellence in library service.
