FINE ART AND FASCINATING DISPLAYS
The next time you visit the Library, be sure to take a few minutes to visit the art exhibit as well as the display case and share in the creative expressions of some very talented local artists.
November
Cambrian artist Sue Nash, Ph.D.
Cambrian artist Sue Nash, Ph.D. will
display a potpourri of symbols and traditions when
her art is featured at the Paso Robles City Library
this November.
Oils and etchings of petroglyphs will join pastels of landscape, still life, and studio studies in this eclectic collection. “Much of my work explores the imagery of Hawaiian petroglyphs, through which I explore cultural concepts from the Hawaiian language. Color theory is important to my work. I use diverse tools and techniques to create real and implied texture to the surface of the canvas or paper.”
“My background as a professional
historian has taught me to appreciate symbolic art.
I have a Ph.D. in Modern European history from the
University of North Texas and have lived in Taiwan,
Korea, and Japan and for fifteen years on Maui.
Since 2001 I have been teaching art appreciation at
Cuesta College and have been impressed by the
curiosity of my students. I am represented by the Hana Coast Gallery in Hana, Maui. Living in San Luis
Obispo County is a great family adventure for me
after having lived all over the world.”
