PROJECTS IN PROGRESS

All of the following projects were or are in progress in the year 2008:

Community Development

Sidewalks and Related Improvements in Riverside Avenue and 24th Streets: - $468,976 (2008, 2009, and 2010 CDBG Funds) will be used to install sidewalks and related improvements (curbs, gutters, concrete drive approaches, street lights, street trees, and storm drains) within the public rights-of-way along the frontage of Paso Robles Event Center’s Parking Lot.

LED-Lighted Crosswalk at Spring and 26th Streets: $28,800. This project is initiated by the City of Paso Robles and consists of design and installation of an LED-lighted crosswalk system to enhance public safety, primarily for middle school students walking to and from Flamson Middle School, which is adjacent to this intersection.

LED-Lighted Crosswalk at 34th and Oak Streets: $16,000. This project is initiated by the City of Paso Robles and consists of design and installation of an LED-lighted crosswalk system to enhance public safety, primarily for middle school students walking to and from Georgia Brown Elementary School, which is adjacent to this intersection.

Sidewalks in Turtle Creek Park: $89,700. This project is initiated by the City of Paso Robles and consists of removal of an existing and badly-deteriorated asphalt sidewalk with a new Portland Cement sidewalk. The sidewalk serves a senior community and presents a health hazard in its current condition.

Street Improvements on 36th Street, east of Oak Street: $35,000 (from re-programmed 2007 CDBG Funds). This project is initiated by the City of Paso Robles and consists of design and installation of curb, gutter, sidewalk, street lights, and street trees on a segment of 36th Street that has no such improvements to enhance public safety, primarily for middle school students walking to and from Georgia Brown Elementary School, which is adjacent to this intersection, and to the proposed First 5 Early Childhood Development Center, which will be adjacent to this segment.

ADA-Compliant Handicapped Ramps: $17,000 (from re-programmed 2007 CDBG Funds). This project was initiated by the City of Paso Robles with $30,000 in 2008 CDBG-R Funds and consists of construction of ADA-compliant handicapped ramps at street corners where either there are existing, but non-ADA-compliant handicapped ramps or no handicapped ramps on Oak Street, between 13th and 17th Streets. The final change order for the project revealed that the City had underestimated quantities of curb, gutter, and sidewalk, and an additional $17,000 is needed to complete the project.

Transitional Food and Shelter’s Motel Voucher and Apartment Program - $11,614 (2010 CDBG Funds) will be used to provide motel vouchers for those homeless that are too ill to stay at a shelter. In 2009 $19,650 was granted for this program.

Christ's Kitchen Homeless Ministry - $5,400 (2010 CDBG Funds) was granted for operating expenses for a program that provides meals, showers, and clothing for the homeless. In 2007, $11,106 was granted for this program.
