South Vine Street
The South Vine Street project widened the
existing two traffic lanes, added two new bike lanes, and installed
new curbs and gutters. The project engineer was Cannon Associates;
contractor was Rockwood General Contractors.
Construction began March 2009; work is complete. The project was
funded with a grant from Caltrans and from the San Luis Obispo
Council of Governments (SLOCOG).
Construction Projects on North and South River Roads
Construction on River Road from the north to south City limits involves installation of four sets of pipelines by two contractors under contract to two public agencies. The City is upgrading an existing sewerline on North and South River Roads, an upgrade that was identified as being needed since the late 1970s. The City is also removing and replacing an old 8-inch diameter asbestos cement water pipeline and installing conduits for future AT&T use. The County of San Luis Obispo is installing the pipelines for the Nacimiento Water Project. Once all of the pipelines are installed, the City’s contractor will repave South River Road from Navajo to Creston, and North River Road. (The City’s contractor is MGE Underground, Inc.; the County's contractor is Teichert Construction.)
South River Road
On October 21-23, the City will work along the westerly
shoulder from Creston to Navajo. The road will be closed
during the day
to perform this work, but will be open at night.
North River Road
This portion of River Road is open to traffic. The City's contractor has completed all work
and this road is
now open. Thank you for your patience.

Road south of the Highway 46 overpass to Union Road
